Mr. Patricio Diaz Gavier, attorney-at-law, is a recognized specialist in customs and excise law in Belgium. He represents clients in disputes with the customs administration in all stages of proceedings (including down raids by the customs authorities of company buildings or private home; interrogations by the customs authorities; the seizure of goods, correspondence, computers; the administrative proceeding and the administrative appeal; settlement negotiations with the customs authorities; proceedings before the civil and criminal courts; and proceedings before the Court of Justice of the European Union). Mr. Patricio Diaz Gavier earned his law degree from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 2002 and he was called to the bar in 2003. He has been focusing on customs and excise disputes ever since. His specialization guarantees a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of customs and excise law.

The firm was established in 2014. Before that, Patricio worked for elite (US) law firms in Brussels, Belgium, and for the World Trade Organization (disputes division) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mr. Patricio Diaz Gavier is often invited to speak at customs law conferences and universities in Belgium and abroad. Further, he regularly publishes articles on customs matters and he is an editorial board member of the “Global Trade and Customs Journal”, an international legal journal published by Kluwer Law International.

Patricio is also licensed to appear before the Belgian Supreme Court in customs matters (both for tax and criminal customs and excise disputes). He handles files in Dutch, English, Spanish and French.
